Gunk between tubes w/Morebeer Jamil chiller

Sat Feb 02, 2013 3:25 pm

I bought Morebeer's Jamil chiller and I am concerned about being able to clean and sanitize between the three lines of tubing. They are welded together and it seems like it will be impossible to get any gunk from the boil out from between them.
Anyone have issues with this?
I know I'll be boiling it but would prefer something easier to clean. Might return it for just the normal chiller and add a separate non attached piece of tubing for recirculation.

Cleaning won't be a problem. Hit it with a hose when everything is still wet. Use a brush if you want. It doesn't have to be sanitary. Like you said, it will go in the boil, which will kill anything on it.

I think that you'll find that the bonus of faster cooling times with the recirculation arm more than makes up for a few extra seconds of cleaning.

I've been using mine for years without any buildup problems. For cleanup I fill my kettle, heat up the water, add some oxyclean and circulate through the chiller with the pump. While that is going on I use a stiff brush to clean the vertical tubing and rinse with a garden hose. Cheers!

A long bristled scrub brush and PBW does wonders with mine...
