Just finished my new HLT

After a good 3 month hiatus from a broken shoulder, I finally finished my new HLT. I still have a small leak at the ball valve, but other than that things turned out pretty good. Tomorrow will be the first brew so I'll see how it works out

Hey, what did you use to connect the actual sight glass to that elbow? (Nice work! Something I wouldn't mind doing!)

edit- Oh yeah, i'm brewing too! Double IPA for me.

The metal encasement of the sight gauge keeps the glass tube tight between an ring shaped gasket at the top and bottom allowing liquid and air in and out. It's the metal encasement that has the threads for the elbow.

Oh, and I'm making my Breakfast of Champions Stout today. Toasted me up a some oats a few weeks ago that I'm excited to use.

Well, it worked perfectly today ... except for one thing. I didn't realize I put the thermometer almost right over on the the drain holes on the bottom, so the heat would just flow right to the body of the dial I know this can't be a good thing so I plugged it up with some foil untill I find a permenant solution.
