Show Off Your Fermentation Chamber

Sun Nov 18, 2012 6:13 pm

I am looking for inspiration for my fermentation chamber. I have an initial design, but I am still open to suggestions (i.e. I want to steal your design). My existing design is a bar that has its base as a fermentation chamber (6' wide x 3' deep x 42" high). So far, I have dismantled 2 mini fridges to install into the bar. It may be a double chamber, 1 for fermenting, 1 for lagering. If you feel like it, please post pictures of your fermentation chamber.
Thanks,

I have a pretty detailed build of mine here It works good, not great. It will hold temps of 62 all year but it works HARD from late July to Oct in a San Diego garage.

Nice build; that's a damn fine idea.

I love it. It didn't look like had to install a fan, correct? That looks like a really good approach.

very nice! i just have an old kegerator i got off of craigslist for free with a regulator and CO2 tank. It wasn't cooling and the guy just wanted it gone...ok. I had a friend of mine that does hvac look at it, a $6 part and recharged with refrigerant and it's working. It didn't have a tower so it is now my fermentation chamber. only one carboy but i usually brew 5 gallon batches so it's perfect. I do like your idea so it may be getting another upgrade soon. thanks for sharing! Drew :jnj

I installed the two computer fans above the freezer area. They work, but I do not use them normally. Only when I am getting down to temp on a hot day.

When using a temperature controller, do you put the probe in the air, or attach it to a carboy? For the fermentation chamber, I am considering using a household thermostat and a relay. Of course, this would only be able to measure the air temperature.

I am using a fridge right now for fermentation, but am getting ready to build an 8'X4' "closet" fermentation chamber.....right now, I have the carboy caps that have a thermowell that goes into the wort.....so I am getting a true reading of the temps as I ferment......will keep this going in the new chamber.
