Stainless Welders in Seattle?

Tue Aug 14, 2012 6:28 pm

Anyone know any Stainless welders in the Seattle area who know how to properly make a back-flushed sanitary weld?

I've located one welder in the area but he's not great at getting back and I'd like to locate a second one to compare prices.

Anyone know the going rate for a proper stainless weld? (I'm looking to have 3 1" Tri Clamp ferrules welded into a kettle and 1 camlock QD bottom-drain in my mashtun.) I've seen $30 - $60 when a retailer sells you a kettle and you just want an extra port added. I'm hoping that if I get 3 or 4 welds at once that $30 / Tri Clamp is doable....

Try Larry's in Kent or Bob's homebrew in the U District.
Both will do a great job.

Thanks, BDawg!

I've also found an independent guy: John Conrard: johnDOTconrardATcomcastDOTnet. He's located on the east side.

He's willing to let me observe the whole process and teach me a bit about stainless welding and is reasonably priced, too.

He's got a lot of experience with welding copper to stainless (which is SUPER tricky), too. -I think less experience with Stainless, though but we'll see how this goes... No risk, no fun...
