Fermentation chamber help

Tue May 15, 2012 4:18 pm

I have 2nd fridge in my garage that I use to store bottles and a keg with a picnic tap (plus other food). I'd love to have another fridge to ferment in, but I don't have the space. I need to keep running my garage fridge at regular refrigerator temps.

My plan is to get a fermwrap, carboy parka and a Johnson controller so that I can ferment in this fridge. The fermwrap is supposed to be able to raise the carboy up to 20 degrees, more if insulated. The parka should help keep the carboy warm and help to prevent the fermwrap from affecting the ambient temperature.

Does anyone have a similar setup? I'd love some feedback before I spend the money. Thanks!

...was wondering how this worked out for you? Been doing exactly that and so far so good. Made carboy sized capsules out of reflectix, about two wraps doubled. Fermwrap with controller. Fridge at serving, got eighty on test run.
Going to build a box though, space is an issue, running four kegs in fridge leaves little room for anything else. Going to build a box on casters big enough to do four at a time, two cooking two aging.
Beer, what all good things are built upon!
Primary:
Lagering:
On tap: Wharfside Porter
On tap: Braw Jock
Planning: Sanguinity Amber Ale, Lauging Parrot Pale Ale, and Screaming Parrot IPA
