So the racking cane that I received has sticker glue on the angled part (the people who shipped it to me had a brand sticker around it). The glue isn't on a section of the cane that will touch the fermenting bucket, and it won't touch the tubing, either. But should I try to get the glue off with oxyclean? Should I just let the cane soak in sanitized water and make sure the glue doesn't touch my beer? Or do I need a new cane?

You don't need a new cane!, just pre soak in sanitizer as you would anythings to kill any bacteria (the bad kind). The sticker after your done wipe it down, it won't take but a couple of times before all the sticker residue is completely gone.

Or you can just soak in the PBW or Oxyclean and clean taking it out every hour and using finger nail or non-abrasive scrubby, remove the sticker sould only take a few hours to get it shinny.

I use Goo Gone to get sticker residue off of things. If the cane is stainless, no problem. If it is plastic, be careful with the contact time.

Goo Gone kinda freaks me out when it comes to things I plan on ingesting. But thanks for answering the questions . I'll just sanitize the crap out of the thing.

Using Goo Gone is fine as long as you clean it off after... it's also not touching anything beerwise anyway...

Advice like this takes a ton of the intimidation out of the brewing process. Sanitation was hammered into me so thoroughly before I started this (my first) batch that I got kinda nervous about the fact that I wasn't brewing in a microchip-level clean room. Clearly that was extreme, but I don't medicate my OCD, so I have a bit of an excuse
