Carbon Block Water Filters

I am currently using a carbob block filter on my Milwaukee City water. The water is from Lake Michigan, and is chlorinated and dechlorinated to kill any nasties in the water (Remember Cryptosporidium?). The filter is very effective, but man, is it slow!!! It takes almost an hour to fill the 15 gallon hot liquor tank. Has anyone used the chlorine remover available from aquarium suppliers? If it doesn't kill the tropical fish, is it okay for yeast? Time for a beer.

If you were going to opt for adding something to remove the Chlorine you'd be better off using Campden tablets from you LHBS instead. I always hesitate to add something for the removal of something else.

Also, you will have to let the water sit for several hours anyway to allow the Chlorine to dissipate, maybe even overnight. That being the case, you may just be better of filling the HLT with filtered water the night before you brew.
