HopRocket Randall Foam & Stopped

Mon Feb 06, 2012 1:07 pm

I hooked up my HopRocket in-line on my draft system last night. At first it foamed like crazy then just stopped pouring.

I am going to disassemble and see why its blocked but I wondered if anyone had any tips for foam-free pouring when running draft beer thru 3 oz of hops.

So I killed the pressure to it for 24-hours and let it sit. Now it's flowing fine with little to no foam. Jury is still out if massive fresh Cascade in my Brown Ale is a good mix. It is a bit overpowering with grassy notes.

What's the best hop to "Randall" an American Brown Ale with?

I'm using half williamett and half fuggle. Its working pretty good for my batch. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks...Cascade was just too grassy but I may have gone overboard. Going to try 1-2 oz of centennial in my APA next and see if I like it.

I've had great luck with Glacier. Clean, cheap and Simple. I know in the past Tasty has said that Cascade is a bad dry hop, due to the grass flavor. So personally, I never tried it.

With my HopRocket, it tends to foam for a little and then pour great. It never gets clogged though.
