Homemade mash paddle

What's the best material?

Wood definitely has the most charisma, but SS and plastic are probably easier to clean.

My vote is for wood.
As far as cleaning it, I dont think that it would be any more work. Just spray the sucker off and hang it to dry.
Wood seems a bit more "romantic" to me, as well. :unicornrainbow:
It has more of the "heirloom" quaility to it.

You can probably find a giant SS spatula in the BBQ section on sale in most stores now.

I use an 18" heavy duty wire whisk in my mash tun. Does a wonderful job of instantly chopping up dough balls.
Image Of course, this is for a 52 quart rectangular cooler mash tun and 5 gallon batches though they do make these in 48" and 60" sizes (we use them in the kitchen at work) for bigger batches.

Just for fun I hooked my CO2 up to my mash tun(I was purging O2 for a sour mash) openned up the valves and that stirred up the mash something fierce.

I voted other. I think it depends on your mash tun. If you have a plastice MT, wood or plastic. If you have a SS MT, SS or wood.
