Brewmasters Warehouse question

Thu Jun 16, 2011 8:21 am

Hi everybody,

I can use some feedback as to whether my experience is typical. I ordered a new Polarware kettle from Brewmasters Warehouse about four weeks ago. The item apparently is shipped direct from the manufacturer. Since then, its been sitting in "pending" status. I have asked at least three times when they expect the item to ship. The only answer that I have received is that its waiting on the manufacturer. So I earlier this week, I called Polarware, and they have no idea why there would be a delay. I immediately called Brewmasters Warehouse back and the person who answered said that he would have to speak with his manager and get back to me. That was two days ago now.

Is this a typical experience when buying this kind of product? I have been cordial with them so far, but its approaching a month since my original order, and these days, that's seems unreasonable.

Thanks.

octoad,

This hasn't been my experience with BMW. They have always been responsive and went above and beyond when in my opinion. I'm lucky enough to be so close to them that they are my local homebrew shop, but I still do the majority of my ordering online with in store pickup. I ordered a Blichmann 20 gallon boiler maker from them earlier this year and it shipped to my house within a week.

Not that it answers why your order has taken four weeks, but I know the owner, Ed, has been out in San Diego for the NHC at least the last few days, so that might explain why they haven't gotten back to you about your last phone call.

It may be that they are waiting for a store stock order to avoid frieght charges. Did you ask if polarware had a minimum order rule?

I did not ask Polarware about minimum order rules. When BMW said that the item is shipped direct from the manufacturer, I assumed inventory and min order size would not be an issue. My experience with BMW seems entirely out of character for them, which is why I submitted the question here.

I did get a reply from BMW this morning. Although they have confirmation of the order being placed, Polarware had no record of it. It sounds like a simple mix-up. BMW resubmitted the order today, so I hope to receive the kettle soon.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

I've ordered from the quite often, but not a kettle yet. Usually when I order, either Saturday Sunday or Monday, it shipps Tuesday and is to me on Thursday. When I had a backorder item I was notified the next day and was given options on what I wanted to do, even though it ended up shipping 2 days after my original order.

I dont know if Ed is on here but he is on homebrewtalk's forums and is active with anyone posting about bmw if you wanted to put something there.

I'd cancel the order and claw back the money through my credit card.

There's lots cheaper sources of big pots
