Plastic quick connects from CPC

Thu Jun 02, 2011 11:25 am

Has anyone used the quick connects from CPC [Colder Products Company] . The problem I have been having has been deformed leaking O rings but after contacting the manufacture it seems I have the wrong parts which are not rated at boiling for extended time. These are the same as the ones at Northern Brewer except as it turns out the ones I got from CPA are not polysulfone, but the HFC series. Any comments on this?

I just finished looking into this myself. CPC is only rated to 180, but can be heated to boiling for short periods.

Though after talking to some people in my brew club I decided to go with camlocks for 2 reasons.

1st they are made from stainless
2nd barginfittings.com sells the in 1/2 in for much less that any other qd in cpc of equal size ( I think I payed $3 & $5 for each fitting)

I did first try getting plastic qd from mcmaster Carr but the ones they suggested for me ended up being way to small.

I have the CPC QD's and have been quite happy with them.
Pros: No leaks, they dont get too hot to touch

Cons:Cost(they have slowly risen in price) and having to drill out the "X" in the middle of them to get a larger "port". Durability(luckily I havent ruined any of mine).

If I were to do it all over again, I would check out the SS camlocks or SS QDs.

I would have to say for what they change for the CPC disconnect. You are much better off to just bite th bullet and get the stainless QD.
