Ranco control after power outages?

Wed Dec 09, 2009 4:30 pm

Just had a few power outages in the last few days due to high winds/shitty weather. Usually it starts right back up on the same memory settings as it was set at before the outage. Today I go to the fridge (not running) and find an E2 symbol on the screen. Looked it up and found it means that the memory was not set. Okay, so I set new settings, the fridge turned on and ran for about 15 seconds, then turned off and the E2 symbol came on. Anyone have any experience with this before? Looking for some help here.

If your ranco was not plugged into a surge supressor, it's very possible that a surge fried it. This is pretty common. I lost my orginal Nintendo in 89 to a power outage. Back then, the power utility reimbursed people for the loss. I have a feeling they don't reimburse these days, but it may be worth a shot.

Called the company today. Said it was shot! Bullshit for barely 2 yrs. old. I guess more than one surge in a day isn't good for temperature control. Time to pony up and buy a new one (and a good surge protector)!

Did you try calling the utility about possible reimbursement? Might work.

Maybe I will. At least just to bitch about it a bit! Those controllers are definitely not cheap.
