I've enjoyed seeing pics of other people's custom motorized barley grinders on here.
My barley mill is different from most home setups. My design required a safe, dummy-proof mill with no exposed belts or sheaves (pullys), and a finger guard above the rollers. Dust control was also important. This mill is working great in our new Portland homebrew store. I spent way too much time putting it together. I started with a basic 2-roller crankandstein mill. The biggest problem was the hopper I received with the mill; it didn't have very much clearance at all with the sheave on the back of the mill. I ended up having to make a bent (hammered) sheet steel guard.
Check out the pics and let me know what you think. Customers seem to be happy with the mill and the malted barley is coming out looking great with the factory gap setting. Still waiting to hear back from some customers on their all-grain efficiencies with this mill.
