Motorized Barley Crusher build pix

Well, I was too lazy to take the thing apart to shoot pix of it piece-by-piece, but hopefully these will be detailed enough to show how it went together. I think it came out pretty well. Sure works good.

Here is the complete rig

In this one you can see the L-brackets for the motor mount I fabbed from 1/8" flat bar. The front of the motor has four bolts that were long enough to use to attach it to the brackets. Very convenient.

I mounted the capacitor underneath the top shelf using a hose clamp that I bolted through the shelf.

Here is the roller port. The Barley Crusher required zero modification in this application, aside from removing fiberboard base. I added a fiberboard base of my own for extra strength and appearance. You can see that the bolts I used to mount the base are too short. I will deal with that tomorrow.

I'm also considering building a fiberboard shelf to cover the motor. That would also provide a surface to work on while using the mill.

If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask. If I can do this, anybody can. :P

That Beer-Beer-Beer bucket looks vaguely familiar. Nice set up, you got me motivated to do the same.

Not bad for Fast Bottoms...

Capacitor? What the hell is the capacitor? Does that thing travel through time too?

Seriously, I plan on building this as soon as my motor arrives, but I don't recall hearing anything about a capacitor. Does it come with the motor? If not, where do I get it?

Yeah, it came with the motor. I think it stores energy and then uses it to start the motor spinning.
