What oxygen tank? home depot?

Tue Jun 23, 2009 7:53 am

Can I use one of those oxygen tanks you find @ home depot and a regulator from the homebrew store in order
to induce oxygen into the 1/2" mpt micron stone I bought from morebeer?

Use this regulator to add oxygen:

To this:

That's what I use. And I get the O2 tanks from Home Depot/Lowes. This is probably not the most ideal situation but it's working for me. I open the valve fully and drop it in for 30 seconds. Again on the most ideal situation but it's been working well. I don't think I'm getting too much O2 in there but I am getting enough for good fermentation. I hope to improve on this soon.

During the yeast panel at NHC, they said 2 minutes is about optimum.....and those are the same tanks I use.

Kazi, I'm not sure what the part number is but the tanks are about 18" tall and about 2.5" in diameter and will be red. You'll be able to find them with the welding supplies if not just ask someone. The tanks run about $8 to $10 if I recall, my have lasted for quite some time. According to the last post I may being a bit conservative on my use of the O2. I'll take a picture of the bottle when I get home tonight and post it.

you're looking for disposable oxygen cylinders that are used for torches. mcmaster carr sells them as part # 7817a48, but you'll get better prices if you can find them in a local hardware store.

I'm looking at getting an oxygen set up too. Can I use the aerating stones they sell for aquariums?
