Different kind of brewing pump

Thu Jun 18, 2009 5:11 pm

I made this brewing pump from a washing machine pump I bought off of ebay for $25. I havn't brewed with it yet but it passed the test I put it through. I thought a few people might be interested in the video.

I noticed that you really didn't have any load in your test. In fact, the output hose was lower than the height of the the standing water in the bucket. When you're actually brewing, you'll likely have at least 2-3 feet of head to pump against.

For a more realistic test, put the bucket on the floor, and time the output into the sink.
New here, nothing to put in sig yet.

2 things One that has a sealed shaft pump head right? Number two what is the temp rating of the head. The problems i have with it is. The head getting hot and the shaft of the pump leaking grease and what ever else into the precious wort I just spent hours making. March magnetics are used in brewing because of magnetic drive and high temp pump head.
