An O2 tank is a great thing to have. You only need a couple 20 second shots to aerate your wort. A tank will last practically forever. I got my tank just over 2 years ago (same size as the 5# CO2 tank) and finally had to get it filled two weeks ago. The problem you may have with yours is getting it filled. Many places will not refill or exchange a medical O2 tank without a prescription from a doctor. It may take some searching to find a place to get it done.

Oh, sure. Because we all need a prescription to breathe fucking air. Bullshit doctors and their fucking co-pays. This is why I pay so damn much for medical insurance.

That's the case here in podunk. RedBall won't fill a medical cylinder without a prescription, but welding gas is no problem. Plus the medical cylinders use a different kind of regulator; a type that I don't have :-|.

I could ask one of my MD buddies to write me a prescription but I ain't gonna do that because I do not need medical O2 and if I had a prescription I could get my insurance co to pay for oxygenating my wort. Wait a minute...... !

hmmmm... I have a medical tank, re-purposed for diving, then re-purposed again for welding..... then given to me because the certification ran out. Apparently the welding place never had any problem filling it, but now it costs more to test it than I care to spend. I wonder what is up with that bullshit about having a prescription?

The one they sell is for industrail O2 gas. Thus it can be filled at a welding shop. It also takes a standard industrial O2 regulator.

The one you are getting is a medical grade cylinder. These tend to be a little harder to get filled and they also take a funny regulator that can only be used for medical O2.

...however, you can replace the valve with the industrial type. Or at least someone did with my tank. This may be cheaper for you in the long run.
