Dishwasher pump for brewing?

Mon Mar 09, 2009 5:47 am

First post for me

I'm looking to get a pump or two for my future brewing set up. I was looking into march pumps when I cam across some homebrewers who use dishwasher pumps instead. I think the kind of DW pump they were using was a drain pump but I'm not sure. Does anyone here know anything about these pumps?
Are they food grade?
Can they be used to pump hot wort?
Can the flow be controlled?
Are they magnetic?
thanks guys!

They would have to stand temperatures up to hot tap water temperature so it would have to be at least 150F.

Just get the March, dude... You can find them cheaper on eBay - but they don't have the mount or the cord.
