Um...Behind the store.... :|

Begining to sound like the same place some folks get kegs. Most of the 18 (I just counted) I have are at least somewhat legit.

I consider swiping milk crates for use in a homebrewery every bit as legit as their being used as a smoke-break stool or a door stop or a garbage pail or whatever, which is what I see happening to them behind most of the places I've found them.

Fortunately my brother runs a grocery store. So, now all I have to do is get his phone number from my parents... :?

I was thinking about your carboy bra (carbrassiere? carbro? ) solution when I saw the thread come up. I think its a great idea and am planning on conning my mother-in-law into making a couple for me.

I've looked high and low over the years for milk crates (for their dorm furniture potential), and usually settled for hand-me-downs from someone else moving out of the dorms. I saw stacks of them next to the pallets that everyone would steal for beach bonfires, naturally - but I'm funny about other people's property that way. Wouldn't mommy be proud?

I used a carboy parka on a batch and slipped while carrying it down the steps to the garage. The thing bumped on the step and I felt the bag sag ... it was then I knew what had happened. But due to the nature of the wet suit deal, there was little to no beer leakage, and all the glass had been contained inside the bag. It was shitty to clean the bag up, but it sure beat an explosion of Pre-Saison and glass all up in my shit. They retain heat well, too. Just with heat of fermentation In got my beer 18 degrees ABOVE ambient. Which was 65.

This is the only drawback I see for this. Could be a problem for keeping the temp down for a normal ale or lager. Great for a few though.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.
