I think I'd have a hard time shelling out $70 when my braided hose works just fine.

You use a braided hose in your kettle? Does it ever get cloged? I tried the stainless steel scrubbie and it cloged with pellets but worked with leaf.

I have a friend with the hop stopper and it's impressive how well it strains the hops out. Don't know how it works with a whirlpool Jamil style though.

Yep, I use about 2.5 feet of hose in the kettle just for straining hops. Works great, haven't used a hop bag in a long time. I have never had it clog completely, but as you would expect it does slow down a bit.

Hey Dennis! I believe we know some of the same folks. I sometimes brew with BJ and crew. I've been meaning to come to a TVHC meeting but my wires get crossed or something always manages to get in the way. Hope to eventually run into one of these days.

I guess a braid that long should work. I just let whatever wants to go to the fermenter go. I've been trying to get a good way to strain but I guess I haven't tried too hard yet. One thing at a time.

I have a hopstopper. It works great. I use pellet hops and it is a pleasure to see clear wort for once. I use it in conjunction with a plate chiller. It leaves no beer in the boiler.
