What have you done to the dip tube in your kettle. Did you drill holes on the bottom or did you just pinch the end of the dip tube. I want to do something different with my kettle.
Is that a half barrel kettle?

I followed some suggestions on the morebeer forum. I just took the thread brass piece thats threaded into the kettle, soldered ashort copper tube on. Then took a 90* bend, soldered the pickup tuibe and crimped the end, no drilling, yet. Then i use telon tape on the keg end of things, then slide the pickup tube on to make a good seal.

Yeah i use half barrels for HLT and boil kettle.
I have an extra keg that i think I will be donating to our mead brewing club too.

yes I'm cheap and didn't feel like spending the $2?.00 for the weldless or bulkhead ones when this should work just the same.
Next addition sometime is have another couple welded in and purchase a couple therms.

Since its very slow at work in the winter, and i am the only one here (private luxury gatehouse, :D) I decided to bring my keggles in to measure the site gauges. So i brought them in, and started measuring and marking every gallon, up to 15 gallons. Then thought what the hell, got out the works labelling printer thing, and printed off little stickers for 5,7,10,12, and 15 gallons. As soon as i get my camera fixed I'll show the sweet setup now. Ahh, Im happy now, i just got payed for working on my own equipment. Brew on!

I just used reg hardware store vinyl, and just put a ziptie about an eyebolt to hold it. I just finished putting the markings on the HLT tonight, since my camera is still busted from the washer incident, i had to use my phone cam, so not the greatest quality.

2 questions, multiple answers.
Yeah its just the clear tubing. I havnt used it on a brew yet, hoping to this weeekend. I had a new amber ale recipe worked up but just found out promash didnt save it for some reason :?:

As for work
1-mainjob-security gaurd for a new private golf community. Its really slow in the winter so I can surf most of the night. Im the only one on most of the time so its nice and quiet.
2-secondary job- Brewer at Traverse Brewing Co. Started a couple months ago learning on the big system and now getting paid for it. I guess im the all around guy there. Brewery/kegger/maintenance/ pub tender, etc. oh and i get free beer too;)
3-freelance job-writer for the local newspaper. I do an Outdoors/hunting/fishing column weekly. I usually write the articles while sitting at job no. 1 :D

Oh and helpin out here and there with the parents taxidermy shop, and harvesting cherries in the summer with my farmer buddy.

Somehow I still find time to brew

Sounds like a pretty good gig you have going. Well let me know how the sight "tubes" work out, I have thought about doing it myself, just worried about how they would hold up.
