so the digital probes are smaller than the analog probes? has anyone measured the difference? I have a friend who made a digital temp controller out of a house a/c temp controller and he says the temp probe will fit inside of a corny out dip tube, i will ask him for the plans and build sheet.

JZ says the outside surface of the bucket or carboy or whatever is so close to the temp of what's inside that the difference doesn't matter.

In this case I choose to believe him and strap the probe to the side of the bucket with a bungee cord and cover the probe with some bubble wrap or foam pad or something to shield it from the air temp in the freezer. Seems to work pretty well.
