Oh yeah I do the exact same thing. I see a cooler at wal mart and ask myself how much grain I could fit in there. I see a bucket and I check if I can fit 5 gallons in it. Some people here even have me thinking about taking a vase to make my yeast starters in!

It's a sickness for sure!
Make your own stirplate and make starters! It helps imho.
The flask looks cool and you can heat and cool in it but If I had to do it over again though, I'd go the vase route!

I was all set to go the vase route too. Over the course of a month I checked in every store I visited. I only found one vase suitable, but it cost even more than the 4 liter flask I ended up buying instead. That big erlenmeyer flask does indeed look cool! 8)

I've got a 3000ml flask on the way courtesy of ebay. I think I payed around $40 with shipping or something like that. Don't remember really. I try not to get hung up on the cost and concentrate more on the benefits I'll gain. :D

Just keep telling yourself (and SWMBO) that this purchase will save you money in the long run and will eventually pay for itself......just like all your other homebrew toys.
