I'm most certain you could. Yogurt is made with a specific train of Lacto.

I put a "Brewer's Edge" heating pad on my stirplate for starters that get stirred. Not really needed in the summer of course. For bacteria starters that don't get stirred, they go in the incubation chamber and I crank it up. The heating pad in the chamber has a hard time getting that hot though so I'll supplement a ceramic heat bulb.
