Happily everything turned out fine. Lesson learned, pay attention to what your doing and do the math. I think I may put the next Fermentation fridge in the house so its not battling mother nature so much. That way i can use a much smaller wattage light as a heat source. Or even a fermwrap or carboy belt for heat.

I think the Fermwraps are 40 watts. I use a 50 watt light bulb in a metal drop light for heat during the winter.

I had a shop light with a 90W bulb in it and it worked good untill we had that bad cold snap with single digit temps thats when i switched. My garage is seperate and no heat or ac in it. So trying to keep that ale at 68 was rough at 5deg ambiant

Scares the hell out of me that he salvaged the beer with the airlock looking like that. When plastics are heated like that their plastisizers (SP) leach out. I am not so sure i would want to injest them. Glad everything is OK though.
