That's why I'm asking, I've already blown up a few on a regular range. I'm thinking that hot plate i sent the link to will work, looks like it has one cast metal surface as opposed to a coil, so hopefully the heat will be more evenly distributed, negating the need for the coat-hanger method Bug mentioned. That said eventually I'd like to go the canned wort route, if Santa will bring me a big pressure cooker...
