I was wondering if it might be something like that (or a bad probe). I've got a Ranco 100000000 (0000) 1 (or something) on my ferm cab which is also monitored by my BCS460. Both of them give exactly the same reading except that the BCS460 does fractional degrees.

YEAH, YOU REALLY HAVE TO PUT IT IN THERE IN ORDER FOR IT TO PICK UP CORRECT TEMPS.
OTHERWISE, BE PREPARED TO BE 5-7 DEGREES OFF YOUR MASH TARGET.

I INSERT MY PROBE LIKE I MEAN IT NOW, EVERY TIME
