FWIW I just found that StrangeBrew runs great with WINE on Ubuntu 8.04. Haven't tried Promash yet, but will soon.

After using ProMash for a couple years I have started to evaluate BeerSmith (again) and after using it for about a week, I'm sold. For a ProMash user it takes some getting used to, but the interface is much more user-friendly and it has a lot of nice features, like a calendar which will keep track of where in the process each of your beers are (primary, secondary, aging, etc), which is great if you have multiple fermenters going at the same time.

I hate to admit it but I'm thinking about making the switch from Promash too. I know Jeff has had some rough times and that's why he hasn't made any upgrades but I want to try something new. If that's a new program so be it. I have all my brew sessions in Promash still so I can't completely quit using it.

Is anyone a user of BeerTools Pro? I've played around a bit with it as a bweta tester for the next version adn it seems like a pretty good program. I use ProMash right now and would like to stick with it but we'll see if there is an update anytime soon...

As there is no free trial of BTP, I'll wait for someone to post an in-depth review of the software before I even consider it. Otherwise I'll stick with BeerSmith.

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I think the next version will have a trial period finally.

I've been goin back and forth between Beersmith and BTP for about 8 months. Beersmith is still alot easier to navigate, Beertools is better to look at. The thing that really got me to get BTP was that the updates for it were pretty active and Beersmith hadn't had an update in years. Still getting used to BTP but i think it's what i'm gonna be using in the future.
