how much cooling can they do?

how much volume do you think these things will cool. i'm thinking about building a Chamber that would house two Sanke fermenters and getting a couple of these might turn the trick without having to mount an A/C unit. I would use it almost exclusively for Ales so 60-70 deg would be all it would have to maintain. I've never heard of these things before and I'm curious about how they work.

Thats a nice looking cabinet! I wonder how long it takes to cool with the peltier you have. After researching these devices, I concluded that they weren't for me. Once I get my kegerator built I think I am going to go with something like this:

spott , ahuntertx : sorry ... that nasty real life(tm) has been bogging me down the past few days. even working both days this weekend.

for what it's worth, two empty carboys 6 and 6.5 can get to at least 67 with the house set at 74.

I'm thinking of doing something similar to what ahunterx posted... BUT I will probably put the "radiator" into a water bath... then the carboy/fermenters into that... better heat transfer.

Finally DONE!!! I'll post some pix tomorrow. I've had it running for about 45 min so far and it has dropped about 8 degrees F from start. I have an carboy in it so I can see its actual performance. I'm brewing tomorrow... so I'll really test it once my brew is happily inside it!

There's some really cool shit going on here!!

But I have a question... with the peltiers, why build a "chamber" ?? wouldn't it be more efficient in terms of heating, to attach the peltier setup directly to the outside of a carboy? Then you just insulate the carboy.

That seems to be whats going on with the More Beer cooled conicals. I klnow that thre is a bit of heat transfer stuff going on, but that all has to happen inside a cabinet anyway, and you wouldn't be wasting energy cooling down a box and a bunch of airspace?

I have no idea wheather its a practical idea or not, its just a question that popped into my mind.
