Re: Speidel Plastic Fermenter

I bought the 30L last Spring & I love the thing. Six batches later and I can't imagine going back to buckets. At some point when I'm able to brew more I'll buy another. I usually clean the spigot by running hot water through it & opening & closing it. I do use the spigot to transfer to my bottling bucket (yes, I still bottle!) and it does a good job leaving trub behind. For sanitizing the spigot before transfer, I just spray the heck out of it with Starsan inside & out. Cleanup is really easy, I've never needed anything besides a soft cotton cloth and spraying with lots of warm water. The krausen ring usually rinses right off. I've also noticed the plastic they use doesn't seem to retain that funky hop odor as much as buckets.

As an aside, my last batch which was a winter warmer did manage to use up the head-space & come out the airlock. OG was 1.087. It's the first time I've seen or heard of this happening on these with that size batch. My other brews never even came close.
Life is too short to drink crappy beer.

The orange swiveling part simply snaps out of the translucent T. Clean then snap back together. Thats how I would clean and sani.
