Star San Working Solution Life

Five Star publishes a Materials Data sheet on Star San here..http://www.fivestarchemicals.com/tech/starsan.pdf.
They say here that a working solution is not viable if it clouds or PH is above 3. Does this mean that conversely that a star san solution is viable is PH is below 3 and solution is clear, regardless of how long one has left that bucket of working solution sitting in the garage??

Check the Charlie Talley's (sp?) show, but Star San will last a long time in a capped container or spray bottle. I think Ph is the important indicator.

Correct ph lower than 3 and clear = fine... even 100 years later.

The trick is that of keeping it clear and ph under 3. If I use my tap water (extremely high in carbonates) it is cloudy by the time I get it mixed up. I use RO water and it stays clear pretty much indefinitely. Just make sure you use distilled or reverse osmosis filtered water to mix up your starsan.

Just check the ph every now and then. If the ph gets too high either and more concentrated starsan or dump it and start over if there is too much junk in it. I think Charlie even mentioned that on his show.

A 5 gal bucket usually last me about 6 months. By then it's down to about three gallons, still clear and foamy but has collected some debris in the bottom of the bucket. I just get the R/O water from Walmart for $1.65 to mix with the StarSan (and yes I take the 5 gal bucket to Walmart to fill and mix the StarSan there )
