What are you building right now?

Tue Feb 26, 2013 2:44 pm

I've been building a fat RIMS tube the last 2 days & could not get 2 pinhole leaks to seal. After 2 days of trying I finally gave up & grabbed some epoxy. I got that on the two problem joints & curing, so I turned a new tap handle while I waited for the epoxy to dry. Not a bad afternoon if you look over the mess I have to clean up now. Sorry no pics, haven't uploaded them to my bucket yet.

Port-a-beer. Just a chiller in an igloo cooler to cool my beer where ever I go. Can't wait for my next BYOB party.

Hey now. Me likey.

I just finished a hanging hop bag made from a cut-off 8" pvc coupler, a 5 gallon paint strainer bag, and a giant worm clamp. Works like a champ. At the end of the boil I stuff the bloated hop bag inside my immersion chiller and recirc into it. The recirc both forces the hot wort thru the chiller coils as well as catches all of the trub and hot break. I used to waste at least a half-gallon of wort at the end of runoff; now I waste maybe a cup.

I saved parts from a leaky humidifier to build a stir plate for a 5 liter flask. Gotta get going on that.

I dismantled 2 dorm fridges and I am building a fermentation/lagering chamber. The whole contraption will double as the base for my bar. Maybe I'll take some pictures one of these days.

Unfortunately, you are right, It hasen't happend..."YET"... Dam things are expensive, I have probably ran threw about 3 grand already on the project and haven't started the RIMS tube,Stand, or Mash Rake. I have the kettles almost done and all the parts to finish, I think. Also have assembled almost all of the parts for the control panel. I have purchased everything for the panel except the control portions for the automatic values I am going to put on later. Still haven't purchased BSC yet. Setting up so that I can run via control panel and just record temps on the BCS, or fully controlled via BCS with emergency control on control panel.

Still lots of work to do, plan on having it finished early this summer, stay tuned.....
