Questions about March Pumps answered by the Factory

Does it matter how the oil ports are positioned? How often would you recommend putting oil the ports and how much? THANKS!

I have my pump parallel with the ground with the output facing up and the input facing down.

Where are the oil ports. I find the diagram on line but don't see the the ports listed.

+1 to Hoser's question about the location of the oil ports. Its driving me nuts, NUTS!

I just oiled mine yesterday. The label on the front (mine is mounted horizontally on my B3 1550, output up, input down, motor body to the left and the pump head to the right) has the oil ports labeled with arrows pointing up and down parallel to the left side of the label. I took the pump off, lay it down on the mounting bracket, and applied 4 or 5 drops of oil into the openings.

The ports are merely holes in the casing

It's possible I am wrong and I have been oiling something other than my ports ........

The position of the motor is not as critical as the pump head it self. Ideal situation is Horrizontal with the discharge of the pump pointing to the ceiling. Most of our pumps you can clock the head in different positions to achieve this if you cant mount the motor to the floor. (like if you were to mount the motor to the bottom of a table for instance) Some people ask about mounting the pumps verticaly...they can be mounted that way but only with the motor below the pump head. As far as oiling goes....the motor mfg tells us that they have enough lubrication from the factory to last 3-5 years running continuously. If you are in a bad/dusty environment then 3-4 drops of a lightweght machine oil once or twice a year is fine. You can use a sewing machine oil or a 3-in-one oil you find at hardware stores.
