How can I store this??

Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:27 pm

I have a bunch of 12oz bottles of homebrew that I would like to get into boxes for storage. Most of them are sitting on the basement floor right now in 6 pack carriers. Does anyone know where I can get boxes that are the right size for 12 or 24 bottles to go in? Something white and with a lid would be perfect.

I use these things. Wooden cases from defunct breweries.

The bottom one is right at 100 years old. I pick up these things at antique shops and yard sales. Not exactly white and antiseptic looking, but they do have their own appeal.

I just assumed that you picked them up when you worked at those breweries as a young man with a pocket full of dreams in pre-prohibition America.

I use the boxes I bought them in. Then I stack them and on the top I flip upside down the bottom of a bottled water case to keep crap out of the top. Cheap and easy. Not unlike your mum. Sorry, if I didn't say it someone else would have.

I'm sure your mum is rather nice.

with the way the bimbos here buy the 2 buck chuck at Trader Joe's by the handfull, there are usually a half dozen or so empty wine cases on the floor at any given time The dudes there are more than happy to let me take them.

I only bottle in 22/24's though. I don't have the patience to bottle more than a 6 pack of 12pz bottles.
