Can you bend heating elements?

Tue Feb 03, 2009 6:25 pm

Hey All.

The subject says it all. Can you tweak a heating element without rendering it useless?

Thanks

I need to shift it about 3/8" in order to get it to thread straight into a copper heat exchanger.

you sould be able to as long as your carefull. its just a metal rod. i believe the ends go through a of ceramic disk. so just be carefull not to crack that and you sould be ok to bend it all you want. a vice might be helpfull to keep the ends from moving.

i believe..

they are usually cheap, so give it a try and if it's ruined, come tell us so we don't waste the 8$. :)

Well the tweak worked fine. I brewed a schwarzier yesterday, and an American pale ale today. Things are working well. Luck for me I saved the $20. (After Shipping)
Prost!
