I have a line on a couple of digital refractometers that read 0-56.0 Brix in 0.25 Brix increments and are automatic temperature compensating from 32-122 F. They need about a 1/2 ounce sample (about 1/2 a shot glass) and read in about 2 seconds.
You dip the end in, wait about 10 seconds for the temperature sensor to pick up the temp of the sample and hit the read button. It gives you the index of refraction or the Brix reading.
Almost all have come off their government certification this year. All can be recalibrated in plain water in about 10 seconds.
I am reserving one for myself. Does anybody else have an idea of what they would be worth? They are made by Misco. I know they sold for about $400 new and most look new, in the original box with the original paperwork. Some boxes have some writing on them, usually the serial number of the tester.
Does anybody else have one? I can't wait to start brewing with mine.
