Does Iodophor Last Forever?

Mon Mar 10, 2008 7:18 am

Over the weekend I was digging around in an old box looking for some brewing gear that I misplaced (happens all the time) and came across an old bottle of Iodophor. It must be at least 10 years old... Is this stuff still any good?

It definitely doesn't last when mixed. I wonder if it would still work after that amount of time as a concentrate. Probably not worth the gamble. I would spend the $10 and re-up...

I would buy some fresh Iodophor.

Some of the iodine I see in drug stores has a shelf life less than 5 years. And that's unopened.

Yeah... I'll just dump it. I've switched over to Star San so I don't use it anymore but felt guilty to throw it out if it was perfectly good.

Damn that's a good question. I used Iodophor for a long time but I do admit I love starsan now. Don't fear the foam!
