Star San bubble bath

Is Star-San supposed to make lots of foam/bubbles?

My local home-brew shop suggesting using Star-San instead of C-Brite or metabisulfate for cleaning/sanitizing. I followed directions (1/2oz into 2.5gal) and sloshed it around for a bit in my keg. After dumping the solution, I had a keg full of foam! I was able to get *most* of it out by shaking and spinning the keg, but there was still a few cups of foam in the keg.

I called the supply store and they said it was normal. I trust them, but still wanted to ask for other opinions. Is this normal? Why does Star San foam so badly? What can I do to reduce foaming?

Thanks!

If you don't like the foam you can get the Saniclean instead, basically the same stuff w/o the foam.

cool. thank you. if I use Star San to sanitize bottles, will the residual foam kill the yeast and stop bottle conditioning?

Nope, what little amount that's in the bottles will actually act as yeast food. They said it correct earlier... don't fear the foam!

(The buttles left in the bottles will actually help to ward off any bacteria until you get your brew in there. You'll noticed when you fill the bottles that the top of the rising beer will have a small layer of white starsan foam. Again, don't fear the foam, this'll help protect the beer until you get your cap on.)

Awesome. I'm just paranoid when it comes to beer. :)
BTW, I grew up in McMinnville so we might know each other...
