I use both 70% isopropyl alcohol from a bottle with qtips and a lighter and the 70% wipes. I like the wipes when I feel like I need to clean a surface before flaming it with a swab. I use them all the time now. If you don't like them, don't use them. If you do, like me, go crazy.
I thought I remember Jamil saying something about 90% not working well for sterilzying, but I could be wrong. Something about the right proportions of some such or another. But, if you are using a flame, I'm sure that works just as well to kill the wee beasties.
Brewing is cool like that. Everybody has their own little preferences and methods. As long as you enjoy your beer that's all that matters.
Prost.
