What is the ideal temperature to put the wort through a hopback? Should it be before or after cooling the wort?

You could also put something like this after your keg, but before the tap, and fill it with hops. Talk about late hopping. :D

yeast_slurry have you used this contraption
How many PSI is a mason jar rated for :? I was thinking about doing this with a water filter canister (cost 40.00 plus fittings) but I'm cheap and out in the garage I have a mason jar and some copper pipe, fittings and a stainless screen just waiting to become a randell (cost zero) but my concern would be popping the lid or worse if it required a little PSI push to get the beer through the hops. what has been your experience using it.

The Mason jars are designed to prevent implosion, not explosion so they won't stand high pressure. However, in this case it doesn't matter. You will only be putting 2 or 3 pounds pressure though there, well within the limits. I say go ahead as long as you have no chips or cracks in the jar.
