Gasket choices

Mon Jan 27, 2014 12:34 pm

Any preferences between buna or nitrile food grade gaskets?

They would be to seal a bulkhead fitting and lid on a plastic conical.

Thanks!

Buna-N and Nitrile are the same thing from what I can deduce. Silicon would be nice. Even Viton is rated for food contact. Any flavors the rubber product might add is paramount. Temperature and pressure are little concern in fermentation (stage).

Buna-N and Nitrile are indeed the same thing. One nitpick, you probably mean silicone, not silicon. Silicon is an element.

You also don't want a woman with silicon implants.
