That's exactly how I do it. Disconnect the tubing and hose clamp, spray down hose with sanitizer, and then transfer to fermenter(covered with foil).

Bingo! I do this exactly the same way, Quin. Hit the pump switch with my foot, 2 turns on the hose clamp, a squirt with the star san spray bottle, stick tube in fermenter, hit switch with foot. Bingo!

I put QD's on every ball valve on my system. I skip the star san since I just start the recirc 5-10 min before the end of the boil which sanitizes the recirc loop. Disconnect the QD on the return side of the hose & stick it in the fermenter.

The starsan is for the outside of the hose which gets stuck inside the fermenter during transfer. If you then pour in your yeast starter, it can come into contact with the area where the hose was.
