Something is obviously missing in that photo of your wiring...

Firstly, that needs to be a SPDT switch (3-way) if you want reverse. A standard switch won't allow for reverse. Looks like you're missing a wire from the other pole of that switch to the red side. Everything else looks ok.

AJ is correct, that capacitor isn't polarized. Also, the way it is wired, it should just run assuming the R & C are ok. AJ is right again that if it doesn't, it is likely that you either have an open resistor or a broken capacitor (or an open winding).

I'm only try to run the motor in one direction (no reverse).

It looks like the motor is bad. I'm getting open circuits on black to white and red to white. Hopefully, I can work something out with Surplus Center. It's been 6 weeks since I ordered it.

I would rethink this.....I didn't think I would want to run in reverse either.......until one day I was running my mill, and something jammed the rollers, simple flip of the switch, reverse of the rollers cleared it right up. Glad I put that switch in!!!!

This is for a can crusher similar to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO69n7IlYOs although much smaller. I have a forward/reverse switch on my grain mill though. I agree that they are a good idea.
