Trying to find a mini-fridge that fits a 7gal conical

Mon Jul 18, 2011 4:12 pm

I have a 7gal conical, trying to find a mini fridge or commercial display cooler to do my fermentation in.

I am not interested in a full size freezer or fridge or chest freezer (at this time) if I can avoid it. I have seen threads on homebrew forums about people doing the mini-fridge thing but they all seem to be several years old and the models are no longer made. For example, saw a few people using the Sanyo 4912 (4912M) which can fit the conical in it using a blowoff tube. The 4912 is discontinued (although maybe one will turn up on craigslist).

Any newer models that fit?

Thanks for the help!

Not sure if you have done this or if this is a silly statement or not. Please take it for what it is worth.

I would record the measurements of your conical and go out on the town and go to places that sell quite a few models (best buy, sears, etc...).

The other suggestion I would make is a used appliance store, where I live we have a store that just sells used appliances as well as bang and dents, you may be able to find one of these older models at one of those locations.

Where all have you looked for the 4912? Amazon still sells them, walmart might still.. or try the Kenmore Elite 4.9 cu. ft. Compact Refrigerator (Sears item #04695499000 Mfr. model #564-95499400). these are the alternatives people have suggested.

Thanks for the responses. I have looked around town, I haven't been able to find a mini fridge that wouldn't need some sort of mangling of the freezer...no luck finding any models without a freezer.

So far the 4912 is the best bet (keeping an eye on craigslist), also looking at some commercial display fridges.
