Tripple roller mills - how do they work?

Wed Sep 13, 2006 9:24 am

Guys,

I just read about a tripple roller Mill (http://crankandstein.com/cgm3.htm) and am wondering how does it work w/o grinding the grain. Sure the 2 upper rollers will turn into opposite directions. but which way does the 3rd roller turn. Either way it will oppose one or the other upper roller and shoud cause a grinding of the grain.

Kai,

The roller at the bottom only "works" with one of the other rollers, the other one just directs the grain where it needs to go. Essentially you are just milling the grain twice, but doing so in one step.
