New day, new brewery, new beggining...

Sun Aug 20, 2006 3:52 am

I am having a brewing bonanza weekend ladies and gentlemen......

On Saturday I went to my LHS to buy ingredients for sundays brewday... which was the day to pop the cherry of my brand new brew-room. I have taken over the dissused communal laundry in our apartment block, and converted it to a home brewery of my very own...

I wa so excited about brewing in my new brewery, my resistance was low in the LHBS and I fell prey to my desire for a kegging system.

Pics of my pathetic excuse for a keggerator are already in the Lets see your Keggerator thread, and Pics of my new brewery will follow here.

Beer on tap, new brewery and a brand new batch fermenting gently in the corner..... Life is GOOD 8)

excellent choice of priorities thirsty. let the whole of the block wander round in smelly clothes, but with an in house brewery, who cares. :D
kegged-one light summer ale
kegged- one ordinary bitter
bottled- celebration ale

Note: I said I was using a dis-used laundry... no hot water, no power, had to shovel out the rotting leaves, dump the junk, poison the spiders, hose out and scrub, reattach sinks and door (frame and all) and then pain the bastard to stop the walls crumbling into my beer. Any smelly residents in my block of flats were smelly anyway :)

Here's some photos..

Its quaint and made of old red bricks.... ye olde timey authenticity

The set up so far, still need a couple of shelves, hooks and drying racks

Me in there, grinning like an idiot

I did a panorama so you can see the whole thing. Its kinda turned inside out and you can see 4 walls at once, but it looks sort of cool anyway

Unfortunately cant put a fridge in there due to the no power thing (I run an extension cord in there when I'm brewing) but apart from that its small but pretty damn suitable. No more unpacking then packing all my crap up everytime I want to brew. Plus the shit isn't cluttering up our apartment.

Happy Thirsty Boy.... gonna brew again before the end of the week, just 'cause I can now. 8)

You could install some power with a masonary bit and some romex. Even without the power you have a great set-up.
