pickle the brass and your all good. (one part hydrogen peroxide to 2 parts vinegar at room temperature....soak brass for 5 minutes or so until it is a buttery yellow color)

I have some brass fittings here and there and I pickled them. But they are pretty much never disturbed. Scratch that brass QDC as you're connecting and disconnecting, and shouldn't you pickle it again?

I think the amount of lead that would leach out of a scratch would be minuscule. I recall in the Brew Strong episode "Metals That Affect Your Beer" Palmer saying the amount of lead getting into your beer from brass fittings is negligible.

Another +1 on Rebel Brewer. I'm actually about to walk out the door and go see Tom now. But at the same time I think it is proper that the BN Army do it's best to support B3 because of the massive support those guys have given the BN as one of, if not the, top sponsors of the show. I crack on the idea of "Brewer's Code" often because folks tend to just label their own ideas and morals as being "The Code" but if a code truly does exist then I'm sure it would call for folks to give a little back to the folks that have given a shit ton to the BN.

I agree 100%, support those who support us and our hobby.....I have heard that Rebel Brewer may be trying to work something out with the BN, in a sponsorship roll, or something along those lines, and we may be hearing something real soon. I still buy from B3 when I can, but it's usually more than a week in shipping to me....and not sure I want my yeast in trucks that long.
