Brew HW Shops in NYC

Wed Feb 18, 2009 11:09 am

Hi

I am going to New York (Manhattan) in few weeks and was hoping to bring some brewing hardware home (water filter, drip tray, etc.) can any one recommend some good places in New York to go shopping?

Thanks,

Of all of the millions of places to shop in NYC, a homebrew shop isn't one of them. You can go to East Coast Hydroponics And Homebrew Too in Queens, Karps or Kedco on Long Island, Corrados in Northern New Jersey, or The Maltose Express in Connecticut. Most will require a car, except Karps, which you can take the Long Island Rail Road to get there. How long will you be in NY?

Don't bother going to Corrado's if you want gear, you'll be disappointed. They're good for yeast, hops, and other ingredients in a pinch but that's it.

I also have heard conflicting/bad things about the place in Queens. If you have a car go into CT, it will be worth it.

Thank you for all the suggestions, we do not have a car and looking at the distance to the places I have decided that I will go and drink some good beer instead :D

I am already in New York and will be leaving on Monday evening late, so there should be enough time to go to a few Pubs/Brew Pubs - any suggestions?

Cheers,
Michael

That's the same for our homebrew shop in Nashville, All Seasons. Beer brewing and cousin making all in one place

There's a regional chain up here call Brew & Grow that's also like that.
Pri: Community Nudity Ale, Magician Red Ale, Berliner Weisse
Bottled: Paxton's Tripel and Dubbel, 400 Rabbits Ale, Cap'n Crunch Amber Oat Ale
