Also on a Mac, I use both BeerToolsPro and BeerAlchemy. I primarily develop recipes with BTP, but BA has a much more Mac-like interface. And it's the software I began using first.
One feature of BTP I find mildly annoying is that mash efficiency calculations are based on the coarse-grind as-is rating of the malts, not the standard fine-grind dry basis. Thus, the 91% efficiency BTP said I got for my most recent brew, a Bavarian Helles, was really more like 81% using conventional methods. Not a big deal, but before I figured out what was going on, I kept over-shooting my OG targets.
If anyone knows of a way (a preference setting?) to change how BTP calculates efficiency, I'd love to hear it.
