You nailed it, that's exactly how I did it. I have a table that maps grain to LME and then on a recipe that has a refernced grain, I enable the option to convert to extract. Then it just subs in the appropriate LME's and adjusts the weight to maintain the same contribution of points as the original base grain.

I still need to include options for a partial boil and adjust the hopping rates accordingly and I think your idea of "going both ways" is a good one. (but only as it refers to the website) :?

Except for individual known systems standard efficiency assumptions are par for the course in most all-grain brewing anyway, aren't they? Assumptions are made even in the malt analysis from the maltsters themselves according to the recent Brew Strong interview with a rep from Breiss. Shouldn't be too hard to reference the proper assumption.
